On March 10 2026, Briq Bookings attended the FEC Open Day at the Experience Factory in Antwerp, Europe’s largest indoor Family Entertainment Center (FEC). The event brought together entrepreneurs, operators, and partners from the leisure industry to share knowledge, gain inspiration, and get a behind-the-scenes look at Experience Factory.
For Briq, it was not only an opportunity to be present, but also to share our vision. During the program, we gave a pitch titled “How to Design a Booking System for Growth.” In this presentation, we explored a topic that is becoming increasingly important for many leisure businesses: how to ensure that your booking system not only processes reservations but actively contributes to growth.
The role of a booking system in modern leisure businesses
Many leisure venues, such as Family Entertainment Centers, karting tracks, trampoline parks, or escape rooms, now offer multiple activities. Visitors no longer come for just one activity they are looking for a complete experience.
As a result, the booking system plays an increasingly important role. It is often the first point of contact a guest has with a venue. The way activities are presented, combined, and booked largely determines how smooth the customer journey will be.
In the pitch, we showed that a booking system is therefore not just an operational tool, but also a strategic part of your business operations.
From individual bookings to complete experiences
An important theme in the presentation was the difference between individual bookings and combined experiences.
Many systems are built around a single activity per booking. However, for venues with multiple attractions, this can be limiting. Guests often want to combine several activities in one visit, such as karting and bowling, or an escape room combined with drinks.
If the system does not support this easily, friction arises in the booking process. This can lead to drop-offs or missed revenue opportunities.
A booking system designed for growth makes it easy to combine activities within a single booking. This creates a smoother experience for the guest and increases spending per visit.
Scalability as a starting point
A second key point from the pitch was scalability.
Many leisure businesses start with one activity or one location. Over time, however, they grow: new attractions are added, additional time slots become available, or even multiple locations are opened. A booking system must therefore be designed from the outset to scale with this growth.
It should be able to add new activities without complex adjustments, manage capacity and time slots flexibly, support multiple locations, and integrate with other systems such as POS, CRM, or marketing tools. If a system is not prepared for this, growth can actually create additional complexity.
The booking flow as a growth engine
During the presentation, we also demonstrated how important the booking flow itself is.
A good flow helps visitors quickly understand:
- which activities are available
- which combinations are possible
- which time slots fit their schedule
The simpler and clearer this flow is, the more likely visitors are to complete their booking and potentially add extra activities.
At Briq, we believe that a booking flow should not only be user-friendly but can also actively help generate more value from every booking.
Inspiring conversations and new insights
In addition to the pitch, the Open Day provided plenty of opportunities to connect with other entrepreneurs in the sector. It was inspiring to hear how different FEC locations approach growth, digitalization, and the creation of complete guest experiences.
These conversations once again confirmed that technology is playing an increasingly important role in the leisure industry, not only behind the scenes, but also in the visitor experience itself.
A successful day in the leisure industry
The Open Day was an energetic and inspiring event where innovation and entrepreneurship took center stage. For Briq, it was a great opportunity to share our vision and engage with operators looking to grow their venues further.
We look back on a successful day filled with valuable conversations, new connections, and great enthusiasm for the future of Family Entertainment Centers.
